Stage lighting instruments are used in theatrical productions, concerts, theme parks, and other performances taking place in live performance venues to help control visibility, contribute to scene composition, enhance movement of the performance action, and set a mood (atmosphere) for the presentation. Stage lighting fixtures are basically grouped into two types called "wash" and "spot", and they include ellipsoidal reflector spotlights (ERS), moving head lights, PAR can lights, theatrical follow spotlights, stage linear wash and border lights, LED and laser effect lights, Fresnel spotlights, cyc lights, gobo projectors, etc. Stage lighting equipment uses highly sophisticated computer based control console from which a myriad display of programmable and controllable special effects can be commanded.
